Fixed that today, and I was able to get a successful mesh connection in my office, about 20' behind that main unit in the window. I'd found the 'Site' setting, and the 'Radio' settings for Mesh, but there was one under 'Uplink' that I'd missed. The 'meshing' thing is what caught me out late last night when I was giving these their first tests. I should be able to hit that building across the STREET with this setup! I've had success with the standard AP-AC-LRs and PTP bridges I've used up until now. I'm going to just return these and go with Aruba, if I can't get any suggestions. Heck, even trying to connect with my iPhone would give me 'insufficient signal to join' (with 2 of 3 bars) at that same distance. This was WITH the directional antenna! Now I have the other unit shoved in behind a conduit on the trailer, hoping to get ONE little bar of signal. So, imagine my surprise when I set the 'base unit' up inside of the office window, and could get no more signal strength around the trailer than I could with the MSM422. Step 3: To hedge my bets, I also bought a pair of the Dual-Band Directional Antennae! Because I just can't get away from the overkill. Step 2: I bought a pair of Ubiquiti UAP-AC-M units, because they should easily be able to bridge that distance in a mesh, giving me wired and WiFi inside of the trailer I got around two bars of signal out and around the trailer, but it wouldn't reach inside, like I thought Step 1: I took one of my existing old APs, an HP MSM422, and set it on my window ledge upstairs. Rather than do the overkill point to point bridge I usually do, I figured I would try extending my WiFi coverage to the trailer. I need to make a short WiFi hop between my office and a site trailer set up in our parking lot.

In fact, I even use these on tempo runs of middling distances, especially on hillier courses. The cushioning will ensure you aren’t beat up while the technologies help you get up on your toes for that fast running.Īs mentioned in the Performance section, I find myself using the Triumph 7’s for long runs in which I know I’ll be running hard. The Arch-Lock and quick transition from heal strike to toe-off make this shoe even better for quality long runs when you have to run tempo. The cushioning is ample to support long runs, while the shoe is stable with each foot fall to prevent movement. Although these shoes weigh in at a healthy 12.3 oz, they perform lighter due to the built in technologies. They are billed as a premier cushioning shoe for a neutral runner, and that would be correct but they also perform far faster than their weight. The Triumph 7’s seem to cover a category unto themselves. This shoe keeps you raised high yet feels stable and ready to run hard. Because of this trait, the shoe rides more like a performance trainer rather than a shoe-of-all-trades plodder. The shoe provides excellent cushioning, and the added stability affords a quick transition from heal strike to toe-off. I was impressed!įor a training shoe with lots of cushion, this shoe is far more stable than what I was expecting. The shoe stays secure – not snug, not too easy, just right, locked into the arch. I realized that it was a slightly different feeling than the Adidas, Asics, and Nike’s I was used to.Īll of my concerns dissipated on my first test run. But still, there was no discomfort, nothing rubbing or tight or gripping. And with this feeling I wondered it would survive the test of training miles. It was an odd sensation to me because although the shoe felt secure to my foot, there was no feeling of the shoe gripping me, as if it might be too small. With the Natural Arch-Lock patented technology, my feet seemed to lock into the shoes, almost as if something was locking the shoes at the arches. Slipping my feet into the Triumph 7’s caused me to pause. I feel like I’ve been missing out all these years for having been away from Saucony. These are so well put together that they make my previous running shoes look like they were slapped together haphazardly and with shoddy threads. Materials, stitching, and design flow seem high quality – above that of their counterparts. I am glad I have been given the opportunity to come back because after trialing a pair of Triumph 7’s and even a set of lightening Fastwitch 4’s, I am converted – and this coming from a guy who has run exclusively in Adidas, Asics, and Nike.įirst thing I noticed upon taking the Saucony ProGrid Triumph 7’s out of the box was how each shoe was constructed. Back then Saucony was mostly a newcomer struggling to make it in the running shoe market since then, it has grown into a top-flight performance shoe maker. Having not run in a pair of Saucony shoes since the early 1990’s (no kidding!), I was curious to give Saucony another try. Excellent transition from heel strike to toe-off.Ultimate blend of cushioning for a responsive ride.Premier cushioning shoe for the neutral runner. Grafton's book does not mention asterisks, but the cover features one after the words "The Footnote." The matching asterisk at the bottom of the page reveals the subtitle: "A Curious History." "It looks a little cute, as punctuation marks go," Grafton conceded. While footnotes bestow an air of scholarly authority, even pedantry, to a written work, asterisks add an almost impish flavor. As a reviewer wrote of Conor Cruise O'Brien's 1993 biography of Edmund Burke, "The footnotes are as sharp as flick-knives." Then as now, numbered footnotes were used by writers to add commentary or cite sources - or settle old scores. The footnote, by contrast, didn't really get on its feet until the 18th century, Grafton said. You wouldn't change the text, but you'd indicate there was something wrong there, something more that needed to be said."Īsterisks were used in the Hebrew text of the Old Testament of the Bible, Grafton added, and in the Middle Ages the asterisk was all the rage: "They were signs to carry the reader from the text to commentary about the text and then back again." "In a classic text like Homer," Grafton says, "you had a symbol to indicate there was a problem with it. "Asterisks go back to Hellenistic Alexandria," said Anthony Grafton, the Princeton University history professor who wrote "The Footnote: A Curious History" (1997). (The word "asterisk" comes from "astrum," the Latin word for star note the mark's starlike shape.) While the asterisk seems as modern as night baseball, it's one of the most ancient and enduring of manuscript symbols, scholars say, stretching back much further in history than its typographical cousin, the footnote. "Perhaps we need to rethink this."Īsterisks are best known today in two realms: as appendages to sports statistics, and as substitutes for letters in profane words in an effort not to offend readers with delicate sensibilities ("*******!" she replied to her editor's suggestions.) The asterisk looks like a tick on the page and, fittingly, often seems to suck the lifeblood out of a bold, forthright statement by sly insinuation: "Let's not be too hasty," the asterisk implies. It's hard to love the asterisk, just as it's hard to love a smarty-pants showoff. " The asterisk is the elbow in the ribs, the wink, the smirk, the disclaimer, the qualification. As punctuation marks go, it's hard to top the asterisk - because the asterisk is there to top everything else. Multiple snapshots make it easy to test a variety of different scenarios without the need to install multiple operating systems.
